This site is dedicated to the memory of Peg Blossom.

Peg was a great lady with a big colorful personality who made friends everywhere she went. She lived her life with gusto and never did anything halfway. She loved her garden with its spring daffodils, fruit orchard, huge peonies, colorful roses and masses of tomatos and tromboni zucchini. She was always recognized by the dozens of wide brimmed hats she had and wore wherever she went. She was an artist all of her life and exhibited paintings at the Art Institute of Chicago. She loved swimming, collecting, dolls and baking. She was born in Chicago, IL on October 15, 1918 to Louise (Victor) and Truman G Lively. She lived in Wilmette, IL, for most of her life. She graduated from New Trier High School in 1936 where she swam and was on the rifle team. She attended University of Illinois Urbana Champaign and studied art. She married Richard Flick Blossom on August 30, 1940. THey had three children and were married for 60 years until he died in 2000. She earned a bachelors and masters degree in Art Education from University of Illinois at Chicago and went on to teach art in the Glenbrook school district for 5 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Flick, brother Tom Lively and son-in-law Sam Hudspeth. Surviving are a daughter, Peggy Ann Hudspeth of Tucson, Ariz; sons Steve G.(Gwen) and David F., both of Wilmette; grandchildren Greg (Sharon) Hudspeth of Maine, Gabrielle Blossom of Peoria, IL; and two great-grandchildren. She is much loved and will always be remembered by all her friends and family.

Thoughts

Peg was an inspiration to our family, and a daily constant in our lives as she always walked by our house, rain or shine. The first time we met her, we knew she was a special gift. Though she lived through so much, her attitude was always one of thanksgiving for what she had, not what was taken away or missing. Her incredible way of seeing only the positive in things was just amazing and truly inspirational. One never spoke to Peg without feeling uplifted afterwards. Though we only knew her these five years, she has touched us all for a lifetime. No doubt she is spreading her endless joy and smiles up there in Heaven. Sending love and bear hugs, The Henn Family

Peg has been my best friend for at least 40 years. I have had only two best friends in my life. The first was when I was a child. One is fortunate to find a truly best friend to share the good times and the bad. We met at a coffee counter in Evanston when I was laughing over reading Phyllis Dillers "House Keeping Hints". She inquired, and we shared and bonded. There are more important things in life than cleaning house. I was drawn to her because of her friendly nature, her way of reaching out to strangers, finding ways to compliment them. She was a person to emulate. We found a few like souls, and had many years of our "doll parties", doll lovers who enjoyed lunch at each others homes ond friendly chatter. Those were the days! Peg and I also loved to swim daily in the summer in Lake Michigan. In later years, we met weekly for pancakes and conversation. We shared so much in our lives. We both had sons born July 4th, and grand-daughter born the same year. She was very special! I miss her, but i am extremely grateful to have known her. She was an important part of my life. To her memory, with love, Elaine Macejak 3-18-2013

I saw Peg many mornings walking down the sidewalk with her walker. She was so sweet and kind. I would always stop running for a brief chat. I'm so sad to read of her passing. She was a wonderful woman
